Ashley’s Pediatric Surgery Story
Jul 29, 2020We really did not know what to expect. My husband and I certainly had concerns bringing our four-year-old daughter to the hospital for surgery in today’s current climate. What mother and father wouldn’t? However, we were so relieved when we saw the care and attention that Ashley received when she had her tonsils and adenoids taken out during the coronavirus pandemic at the Outpatient Surgery Center at West Boca Medical Center.
Ashley had been sleeping very uncomfortably for about a month when we finally decided to bring her to the doctor to see what the issue was. When they told us her tonsils and adenoids needed to come out, my husband and I needed to make a decision as to where we would go. After much discussion, West Boca Medical Center was the right place for us even though we reside in Wellington.
Dr. David Kay did the surgery and put us at ease from the very beginning. Because of the safety protocols, only one of us could be with Ashley, but the nurses and staff were so accommodating, and let my husband and I switch out when one of us had to leave. Nurses Paula, Sue and Yessie, the nurse anesthesiologist, all made a very stressful situation so much better for us. The safety protocols that are in place made my husband and I feel secure knowing the hospital was taking every measure possible to assure us that Ashley was in good hands.
Today, Ashley is feeling so much better, she sleeps through the night, and we have the team at West Boca Medical Center to thank. They gave us the peace of mind to feel comfortable about having an elective surgery at the hospital. For any parent out there, I would tell them not to wait or delay care for your child. I’m glad we didn’t, because now along with my daughter, my husband and I can sleep better through the night knowing Ashley is doing great. Thank you to West Boca Medical Center for keeping our daughter safe. Allison & Tino Negri.
