Tenet Florida and the American Heart Association Join Forces for the Go Red For Women Initiative to Improve Women’s Heart Health
Tenet Florida is pleased to announce a new collaboration with the American Heart Association, South Florida, as the organization’s Presenting Sponsor for the Go Red For Women campaign. Through this initiative, the employees and physicians of the Tenet Florida hospitals will participate in all aspects of the Go Red For Women campaign supporting research, education and community programs. This collaboration confirms Tenet Florida’s commitment to bringing cardiac excellence to the residents of South Florida.
From performing the first open heart surgery in Broward County in 1974, to currently being ranked number one in Florida for cardiac surgery by Healthgrades, Tenet Florida’s heart hospitals offer quality comprehensive care from prevention to recovery. Our award winning Tenet Florida heart hospitals have extensive experience in complex, life-saving procedures. With nearly 1,000 open heart surgeries performed annually, our cardiologists and heart surgeons strive to help patients achieve better outcomes, quicker recovery times, shorter hospital stays and ultimately, better health. Cardiovascular medicine at Tenet Florida is comprised of a comprehensive range of heart and vascular services –from prevention and diagnosis to advanced surgery, rehabilitation through recovery.
"With a strong emphasis on promoting heart health, the employees and physicians of Tenet Florida are honored to support the American Heart Association in this distinguished role,"
said Marsha Powers, Tenet Florida’s Senior Vice President of Operations. "Our doctors are dedicated to providing comprehensive, advanced care for our patients utilizing the latest treatments and techniques. We round out the continuum of our elite, multi-faceted cardiac program by spearheading the Go Red For Women movement. Our goal is to raise critical awareness as we educate the community about the prevalence of heart disease in women."
The facts surrounding women and heart disease are clear. More women die of heart disease than all forms of cancer combined. However, Go Red For Women has been impacting the health of women since its earliest days. Over the past ten years, more than 627,000 women have been saved from heart disease. Currently, heart disease and stroke are the No. 1 and No. 4 killers, respectively, of American men and women. The Go Red For Women initiative will be celebrating its 10-year anniversary in February, American Heart Month.
