Diabetes is now an epidemic in this country, but each patient faces the disease individually.

West Boca's Diabetes Outpatient Program can help. The goals are to help each patient manage the disease, live as healthfully as possible with diabetes and prevent complications.

The program offers an individualized, hands-on learning experience for the newly or previously diagnosed adult diabetics. Highlights of this comprehensive program include:

  • Meal planning and nutritional counseling
  • Oral medications and updates
  • Insulin and new advances in treatment
  • Blood glucose monitoring
  • Exercise
  • Personal care
  • Complications
  • Coping strategies

A team of healthcare professionals, including nurse educators and a clinical dietitian, teach this nine-hour program. A physician referral is necessary for registration.
